Common Ductless Air Conditioner Problems You Must Repair ASAP

Not every home needs air ducts. Many homes end up relying on air conditioning window units. However, these are inefficient and unsightly. A better alternative is to install ductless AC units. However, like with all types of AC units, ductless units can sometimes be in need of repairs.

The Fan Isn't Working

You might notice that you're not getting any air from the indoor air handlers, even when the fan is turned on. You'll need to check the outdoor units to find out if they are running. If the fan isn't running, the capacitor that is responsible for keeping the fan running might have lost its ability to hold a charge and is failing as a result. There might also be a problem with the fan motor and this may need to be replaced.

The Remote Control Isn't Working

Oftentimes, a ductless unit is operated by remote control. However, you might discover that the remote control suddenly no longer works. The first thing you should check is the batteries in the remote to make sure that they aren't dead. But once you have confirmed that the batteries aren't dead, hire an air conditioning repair technician to find out if there is an electrical problem with your air conditioning unit.

There is Condensate

When your ductless air conditioner is leaking water, this is something that shouldn't be happening with a ductless air conditioning unit and may cause damage. Any condensate that collects is supposed to be removed by a drain hose found at the back of the unit. When the condensate doesn't go where it's supposed to go, this can cause the unit to tear away from the wall.

There is a Refrigerant Leak

If your air conditioner is not powerful enough, this might be the result of a refrigerant leak. The AC needs to be repaired so that it is no longer leaking refrigerant. Also, it is necessary to make sure that the new refrigerant is added by a technician who can add it in a manner that will be in compliance with environmental regulations.

You're Facing Any Problem At All

Regardless of the problem you're facing with your ductless air conditioner, you'll want to have it inspected by an air conditioning repair service. Otherwise, you'll have to spend more money repairing your air conditioner or you may replace it unnecessarily when you could simply have it repaired and save money.
